ABOUT DAMONTAE
Damontae Hack is a 26-year-old artist originally from Baltimore, now based in New York City. A 2020 graduate of the California Institute of the Arts with a degree in dance, he is a choreographer, director, dancer, and model focused on redefining art through a Black Queer perspective. His work explores themes of physicality, intimacy, and human consciousness through various mediums including cinema, choreography, photography, and voice. Influenced by collaborations with notable artists like Solange Knowles and Pina Bausch, Damontae incorporates elements from ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, and site-specific work. As he takes on prominent roles in directing and choreographing, he aims to challenge perceptions and inspire lasting change in the way audiences engage with art.
