“[The New Choreographer Grant] felt like a big growth point for me to be able to make a professional work that I was not in myself, and felt aligned with my own morals as an artist to be able to properly compensate my friends/dancers. I've felt myself grow as a choreographer in this process because I was able to stand outside of the work and practice generating material, crafting the work, and directing the room in a way I haven't been able to since I am usually performing in the work also. I am so grateful!”

Do you feel you have grown as a choreographer/artist through this process?
"I learned how to manage the largest group I have had the chance to work with post-school.
I learned how to use a budget to inform how many rehearsals I can have/etc.
The music engineering aspect taught me so much about how sound and the creation of a score can influence my process.
I strengthened the skill of listening to my gut amongst the external noise of all the administrative and scheduling things that come up as a choreographer."
~Rosa Wolff, 2024 Recipient
Did you feel supported by ETD staff throughout the course of the grant?
“Absolutely. I was really appreciative of the amount of administrative support we were given from Savannah and Liviya, the Zoom check-ins with the whole group, and the clear and consistent communication.”

“I felt very inspired by the performances I saw. I was grateful to hear the choreographers talk about their work and process after the performance. From what I learned about the ETD NCG, it is a great opportunity for dance artists partaking in the experience and for those who get to view the works as audience members.”
