Dance and Mental Health

A SENSE OF BELONGING

According to research published in the Journal Social Science and Medicine, belonging to an exercise group is thought to decrease feelings of loneliness and depression among participants significantly. The researchers found that being a member of a sport or exercise group predicted fewer symptoms of depression experienced four years later, indicating a long-term positive impact on mental health. This suggests that engaging with others in a fitness setting may provide physical benefits and valuable social connections that contribute to overall well-being.

OUR GROUP WORKSHOPS

We offer a variety of dance workshops. In our workshops participants work not only to learn dance steps, but they practice working on a team while fostering a sense of belonging with those they dance with. Community is at the forefront of everything we do, and we consider building it our greatest accomplishment.
