I am very excited to welcome Alexis Amundarain to the ETD Team as our 2017 Summer intern!
Originally from Ellington, CT, Alexis is a rising senior at the University of the Arts pursuing her BFA in Dance and a minor in photography. She has been dancing for over fifteen years and has worked with some incredible choreographers, including Kim Bears Bailey, Katie Swords Thurman, Jesse Zaritt, Sidra Bell, and Andrea Miller.
Alexis enjoys experimenting with technology and dance to create, document, and perform works that push the boundaries of performance. Her goal is to find a balance between the two that allow for authenticity and accurate portrayal of emotions and
feelings. She hopes to use dance as a way to inform and question society's current construct ranging from the individual to the collection of all people. Alexis fully believes in the power of dance to transform and impact perspectives, she sees technology as a resourceful, and realistic, way of reaching the people who aren't naturally drawn to art. Upon graduating, Alexis aspires to join a company where she can continue to perform and choreograph alongside her interest in photography.
For the next four months, Alexis will be working alongside my Company Manager, Nicole Baker. Beside her work on the administrative side of ETD, she will also be attending rehearsals to learn repertory and assist me and Nicole. We couldn't be more grateful for her help, especially her photography expertise, and cannot wait to begin working!
Stay tuned for updates on her experience in New York City working with Eryc Taylor Dance!
